Research and Executive Assistant
Alicia is the Research and Executive Assistant at the Horizons Project.
With a Mexican-Palestinian background, Alicia brings a transnational level of comprehension and analysis to pro-democracy movement building. Her field experience includes research work and capacity training in Latin America and the Middle East.
Before joining Horizons, Alicia was at the U.S. Institute of Peace, where she supported programmatic and research work for the Nonviolent Action Program. In that role, she helped develop and implement nonviolent resistance trainings in Colombia, Nicaragua, Venezuela, and Bolivia, with a focus on translating theory into practice in accessible, digestible methods for local practitioners. She also contributed to research on democratic backsliding—applying her Spanish and Arabic language skills as needed.
Alicia holds a bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and Arab World Studies from American University. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking for loved ones, painting, and staying active.
