Director of Ecosystem Engagement
Ruth Moreno is a Dominican Afro-Latine strategist, facilitator, and organizer with over a decade of experience supporting coalition building, political infrastructure, and alignment work across complex movement ecosystems. Her work focuses on helping organizations collaborate more effectively by designing processes that deepen trust, clarify shared purpose, and support coordinated action.
Ruth’s organizing journey began in 2008, when she worked on President Barack Obama’s first presidential campaign. While in college, she served as Director of Legislative Staff for the Florida College System Student Government Association, representing the interests of 1.1 million students before the Florida Legislature. These early experiences shaped her understanding of political systems, power, and the importance of collective strategy.
Over the years, Ruth has held leadership roles across electoral, labor, immigrant justice, and statewide advocacy organizations. She has organized congressional and legislative campaigns, served as a regional political director, and supported statewide coordination efforts for national organizations. Most recently, she served as Deputy Director of a statewide organization, where she designed and facilitated alignment spaces that brought together diverse organizations to strengthen relationships, build shared analysis, and coordinate long-term strategy. In this role, she also led political education and leadership development programs, supported regional staff and organizers, and co-managed board planning and governance processes.
Ruth is especially skilled at working in spaces where there are differing organizational cultures, priorities, and power dynamics. She is known for her ability to listen deeply, surface underlying tensions with care, and guide groups toward clarity without flattening difference. Her facilitation style is grounded, relational, and attentive to both the emotional and practical dimensions of collective work—balancing trust-building with concrete outcomes, timelines, and next steps.
Across her work, Ruth brings a systems-thinking lens, a strong sense of accountability, and a deep respect for the people closest to the issues at hand. She is committed to justice, democratic practice, and strengthening the connective tissue that allows movements to work together with greater resilience and intention.
Outside of her professional life, Ruth enjoys being a mom and spending time in nature, both of which ground her and continually reconnect her to the values that guide her work.
